INFRASTRUCTURE & URBAN PLANNING
SPACE DATA FOR SAFER, MORE RESILIENT CITIES AND CRITICAL ASSETS

The Challenge — Silent Risks Beneath Our Cities

Across many urban areas, ground deformation is a growing but often invisible threat to buildings, bridges, tunnels, and critical infrastructure. Even millimetric subsidence or differential settlement, when left unmonitored, can gradually accumulate stress and lead to serious structural damage over time.

Recent large-scale satellite radar studies reveal that significant parts of urban areas are experiencing measurable subsidence, putting tens of thousands of structures in zones of elevated risk. In the US alone, an estimated 17,900 km² of land is sinking across 28 cities. The analysis shows that while most buildings are in low-to-medium risk areas, a notable share falls into higher-risk categories—making prioritization and targeted monitoring essential.

Traditional monitoring methods, such as leveling or ground sensors, are often too localized, time consuming, and reactive to provide the dense, frequent, city-scale coverage needed to detect these subtle but critical deformations early.

WIDE-AREA PRECISION, ACTIONABLE INTELLIGENCE

We combine high resolution InSAR -an advanced type of radar satellite data that allow us to measure ground deformation with machine learning, geotechnical models, and structural interpretation to deliver millimetric deformation insights across entire urban areas and infrastructure networks — without installing sensors on site.

-
Satellite-based coverage – Monitor entire cities or infrastructure corridors at regular intervals.
-
AI-powered interpretation – Differentiate between natural, structural, and anthropogenic movement.
-
Predictive analytics – Identify risk patterns early, enabling targeted interventions.
-
Actionable dashboards – Simple, clear interfaces for operators, regulators, and insurers.

Our approach uses proven monitoring methods from around the world and combines them with advanced automated processing developed at the Polytechnic of Turin in Italy. This turns complex radar data into clear, decision-ready information that can easily fit into existing systems.

APPLICATIONS
Bridges & Tunnels – Detect deck or pier displacement, bending, or settlement with millimetric accuracy.
-
Urban Buildings – Identify zones of differential settlement across dense city blocks.
-
Critical Infrastructure – Monitor pipelines, railways, dams, hydropower assets, underground storage.
-
City-wide Stability Mapping – Establish baseline deformation layers to support planning, permitting, ESG, and insurance assessments.
